Le Tour

Post by alba bairn » Saturday 30th 2012f June 2012 09:12:05 AM

Starts today. Wiggins or Evans? Got to be one or t'other. If Bradley can avoid crashes he's in with a real shout. I reckon Cav will bale in the mountains, so he'll be ready for the Olympics.....world and olympic road race champ is possible. Some palmares that'll be.

The most gruelling event in the world imo, love watching it, especially the mountain stages

A great sporting event completely ruined by drug taking cheats. Used to really enjoy Le Tour, now im just too sceptical about it to enjoy it.

 The fact that he's not there may prove to be a dampener on that one mate. Frank is there, but hasn't the legs.

Thought Tony Martin would beast the Prologue, but mechanical trouble put paid to him. No surprise that Cancellara won pretty impressively though.

Wiggins has a real chance this time but I expect another Voekler type leader before the big time trials. Then its Evans, Wiggins and maybe Sagan, Hejsdal, Nibali all in with a chance. The ITV guys are bigging up Denis Menchov too. But Wiggins is the guy to beat, imo.

Don't think Sagan is a GC contender, but will definitely win a stage or two. His record lately has been pretty amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Froome and even Rogers from Sky high in the GC after seeing how Sky dominated the Dauphine.

Nibali, Froome and Jurgen Van den Broeck.

I don't think the big two will win. I actually think Froome will finish higher than Wiggens. Nibali cannot TT that well, but he is mental in the descents. Van Den Broeck is quality and off the radar a bit.

I thought Wiggins and Evans have looked good so far. You can't win the tour in the first week - but you can lose it. Today a rolluer will win the stage - possibly the new kid whose got the KoM jersey - Morkov or maybe someone like Gilbert.... no massive sprint finish today anyway.

Always liked the cycling but my niece is engaged to a guy in the
Endura racing team so over last few years took more of an interest
You don't realise how fit these guys are (even tho he eats like a horse)
Till they pop out for an 80 mile cycle

Nope, the UK team should win that. Millar, Wiggins and Froome, Will be an awesome lead out train. Cav is peaking for this, le tour is the build up.
