Missed it, through travelling, but I take it he dispensed with the team & stayed on Greipel's wheel, did he?
He needed to take a completely dfferent tack, as his train idea clearly wasn't working. Bravo Cav!

France gets its first winner of this tour with AG2Rs Villermoz taking the stage after attacking on the climb to the finish. Nibali giving up some more seconds, 10 on a second watch?

Nothing to do with the race itself, but my wife ripped the driver of one of the Sodexo tour support vans a new one after a wee dispute about queue jumping at a service station in Normandy on Friday.
Must admit it was pretty funny seeing the other Sodexo drivers grinning away at their mate taking a distant second prize to a 5ft Scotswoman!

Ivan Basso withdraws with testicular cancer, pain flared up after crash on stage 5, Contador apparently in tears earlier.

Froome has just put himself in prime postion to control the rest of race, by putting the hurt on Quintana & turning it into an ITT.
Contador finding out the Giro/Tour double is nigh on impossible. IMO, Nibali might be ill (he was sweating buckets halfway into the climb). with TjVG, finding out how short he is of being an elite rider.
Excellent ride by Gesink, Yates & Gallopin.

Neither of the two young French boys looked anywhere near good enough to mount any challenge. Bardet and Peraud may not be France,s next Tour winners. not yet anyway.

Froome extends his lead, taking time out of Contador, TjVG & Nibali.Quintana up to 2nd, finishing just behind.
Great win for Brit Steve Cummings & the MTN Quebeka team on Mandela Day.

Looks to me that Sky probably have the top 2 riders at the tour, in Froome and Thomas. Contador is knackered from the Giro and Nibali is just not the same this year.

Quintana and Porte look to me like they will never win this, They may win the Vuelta or Giro, but not Le Tour.

Thomas had the look of Froome, when Froome was helping Wiggins. If they had a decent TT in this year tour, he may have finished on the podium.
I'm a bad man who doesn't waste time wondering what could've been when I am what could've been and what could not have been. I live on both sides of the fence. My grass is always green.

Coming down to a straight fight between Froome & Quintana.
The main card Movistar have left, is to send Valverde on the attack & sit Quintana on Froome's wheel.

Griepel winning today means Peto's green jersey at risk. :( Mind you Andre was riding a Ridley, so really, its all good :D

Valverde could be the key, but I doubt he has the legs for the Alps even if he did get "up the road" a bit. You never know though.

Fairly straightforward sprint victory for Griepel. Beats Degenkolb, Kristoff & Sagan.
GC unchanged.
Most excitement from Sagan's mech lobbing a bidon at a TV bike, after Sagan had a boot at them, for obstructing a wheel change.

An absolutely horrible crash involving Geraint Thomas in Le Tour. How the hell he finished that stage is beyond me. If ANYONE wants to see the benefit behind wearing a helmet, when on a bike, then that was it. I thought he was lucky not to have been carted to hospital, if not still to be alive. https://vid.me/Zp3H

Watch the vid, TjVG gives Barguil a nudge just before they come into the corner.

Notable that both Ruben Plaza & Peter Sagan had problems at that corner.

Thomas only lost 40 secs!

Surprised Pinot's white shorts didn't have a brown streak up the back.
