Euro 2016 championships. Anyone going?

Post by yogisbairns » Saturday 23rd 2015f May 2015 10:25:34 AM

Just as it says on the tin! We're planning a wee road trip for a couple of games (tickets permitting) in either the South (Marseille & Nice) or the East (Lyon & St Etienne). Did it for the World Cup in Germany and the Euro's in Switzerland. This will be the last decent chance of doing anything like this for years as the next euro's and WC will be too far. The ticket application process has just started.:D

Looks kinda obvious that no one or very few people have shown any interest in going, but just for the record, I got 4 tickets for St Etienne in June. Just under €3500 worth of tickets applied for, and 4 to show for it.

I'll probably go over as well, but I'll leave it to nearer the time before I decide what games to go to. It would be nice to watch Scotland play in a major finals.

I booked a trip to malta instead for the world cup qualifier.

Just a pity that Scotland wont be there as it would have been a nice wee holiday in the south of France.

And the Famous Tartan Army were still partying like it was 1999 after the match. They should be devastated after losing 2 matches and blowing the best chance of qualifying for the first time since 1998.

That's one of the reasons I stopped going. They've no interest in the football and are only there for the banter.

From a Scottish perspective it was a real embarrassment to watch just how far ahead in skill, ball control, power, speed and thought the Germans were.
They were just so amazing.
Puts us to shame.

Germany were equally shambolic at the back. No surprise the WORLD CHAMPIONS were better than us, it's almost as if they were the team that put 7 past Brazil eh?

Anyway, nice to see your self loathing continue to bubble away nicely.

The stats. show that we had under 30% possession.
For long spells they had us completely mesmerised.
Being honest doesn't equate with self-loathing.
We were simply outclassed.
Even Georgia were streets ahead of us in all aspects of the game.
If I was watching 'different' matches, I'm open to criticism.

I'm happy to admit we were absolutely disgraceful against Georgia.

But last night was a spirited performance against a far better team, and nothing to be ashamed of.

If it was a GB team Dixie would not have posted that.

I was in France in 1998 so have seen a Scottish team in a major Championship.

I could count on one hand the amount of Scotland games I have been to since.

The whole circus was just starting to get taken over by the bores that go to watch Scotland now in the Tartan Army.

It has got to the stage where I almost want to see Scotland lose to piss them off.

My politics is well known, and I try to watch as many Scotland games as I can on t'box, but I've only ever been to 2 Scotland games in my life.

100% record, mind you, 1-0 wins v Argentina in 1990 and Lithuania in 2003.

TBH,a GB team would struggle to cope with the Germans.
My original post wasn't intended to be political but rather to show how far we have declined in these islands.
