No way that's the official shortlist

So the short list is

Jim Duffy, Stuart Taylor, Lee Clark and Massimo Donati

How under whelming. Relegation beckons if any of these get near the job

 Me either!

Duffy and Clark have credibility but I would be underwhelmed. Taylor is interesting and would be a totally maverick appointment but I'd probably prefer him as 1st team coach than manager at this stage.

Donati is risible

Sadly the DR are reporting that McCall has turned it down as well.

 Great. So whoever is appointed is now known to be 3rd choice.

As has McCall.

Hardly surprising. Any decent manager might well take a look at that squad of ours, then match that up to our BoDs expectation of what can be delivered in a 2 year timespan, and say........”nah, but thanks for thinking of me”.

You've hit the nail on the head. The lack of success is probably more to do with who they've got to work with in the meantime. Might I suggest Ali Bongo.

So we can expect to see him rock up at the stadium in a few weeks!

We're in serious shoot..........

Couple of candidates (the Mc brothers) turned us down, Gary Caldwell being lined up (rumour).
Gary was last manager of Chesterfield and took over (Jan 2017) when they were at the foot of League 1, duly relegated to League 2 then sacked after a poor start to the subsequent season in October 2017.

Chesterfield are now a mid table National League side (English 5th tier).
Are we sure about this?

Now with both McCall and McIntyre ruling themselves out of the running even though one of them does not have a job leads me to think that jungle drums have been beating. Scottish football and the people within it is very much a closed shop with lots of tittle tattle between them all.

I am sure phone chats will have been made between a lot of parties and maybe - and this is just my opinion - the word has gone round of what is actually going wrong with us or what the BoD expect or want. Or they have had discussions about the calibre of player we currently have with no time to get rid and recruit and thought nah not for me so I am out.

Perhaps to throw the baby out with the dishwater regards binning the academy, putting all our eggs in one basket for promotion (sic) a scouting system that so far has come up with zero will come back to haunt us big style

Spot-on. We are an absolute shambles of a football club thanks to the clowns in the boardroom and not an attractive proposition to anyone other than the desperate. Don't blame McCall in the slightest for turning us down. Rumour is that McIntyre wanted to bring in his own staff and was told no. We are a joke.

So is John Hughes a possibility at all? I'm presuming that most fans will not even welcome that as a suggestion, but given the predicament, it might make sense to consider him? He certainly did well for us a one stage and perhaps he can make the best of a bad situation.

With each passing hour it seems the situation gets bleaker with regards to the top candidates distancing themselves from the job.

As others have mentioned, the fear now is we end up with the candidate who is the last man standing rather than the best.

It could be time to countenance that Gordon Young remains in care-taker position beyond the weekend with a view to results and eventually put in charge if he wants the role.

I'd perhaps prefer that than appoint an external candidate for the sake of it.

Today shall forever be known as Black Thursday. What a shambles.

Of all the names mentioned I'd rather say sod it and leave Young in charge for a couple of weeks. This is some low sh1t today though. You can just tell we'll end up with some football dinosaur which will continue the slide into becoming Airdrie MK2.

Reaching a point where I'd rather we said f*CK it and took a chance in a Miller/Kerr combo or something outlandish like that. Funny accept why that's a sh1t idea but I'm incredibly fed up just now. I can't face us having a Hughes/Duffy sort in charge. Just no .
If you're committed enough, you can make any story work. I once told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it.

We thought it was bad before but unbelievably it’s gotten worse. In hindsight, the board could be accused of pulling the trigger too quickly and should’ve sounded McIntyre out before dismissing Hartley to avoid the embarrassment of today.

Now we just look clueless

Yeah with you on how crappy things are. I really hope this doesn't lead to lower division football for FFC. We do need some fresh ideas. Understood on not being able to face Hughes/Duffy old guard. However, at the same time I'm not sure I'd have faith in the Miller/Kerr combo either. I guess we have to see how Young gets on and then take more time over a worthwhile and potentially rejuvenating appointment.

Agree with all that’s been said but I guess a big factor in all this is MONEY.
I would imagine our coffers are fairly bare.
I think some kind of fundraising from fans, ST holders should be attempted.
After all, it’s our Club and most folks agreed with the actions of the Board.
Unfortunately, it just went ‘tits up’.
If that smug politician AS can raise £75k plus in about a day, surely our hometown team can do a lot better than that for our very survival.
Open to any ideas.
