Hartley’s gone

Post by Dade » Monday 27th 2018f August 2018 08:36:28 PM

Didn’t expect this to happen so quickly but think the board were left no choice given results and performances.

Not sure who I want to replace him though. Definitely not Duffy anyway.

Fair play to the bod for acting so quickly., seems really soon to be sacking the manager but from the performances it's obvious something isn't right.

Would have taken hopkin but would probably prefer McCall if he'd come

I know this will not go down well with some but I would go back for Stephen Presley. Definitely never never John Hughes

Stunned that the board acted so quickly. Now let's see who we get. Hopefully someone who knows how to find talent and whip them into shape. I wouldn't mind Pressley coming back but it all hangs on what he can do with that rabble.
Maybe we'll see the end of Muirhead in the team or better said, a team being picked based on ability instead of who the coach is not in the huff with (might be a stretch but if they play in the right position who knows).
I take it our recruitment guru is on his way out too?

The thing about Pressley is that I don’t think he is particularly well liked in Scottish football. That may be ok for young players like he had last time but we need someone who can inspire and be respected by those players we have and I just don’t see Pressley doing that. Plus I wasn’t over awed by his previous time in charge and he’s done little since then in his career.

David Hopkin would be a good choice for me. I’m more concerned with results than performances and to be fair I don’t think Livi were quite as bad as people made them out to be.

As a total outfied choice though why not Paolo di Canio(doubt we could get him anyway). He’s totally nuts but doesn’t lack in passion and would waste no time in booting these players up the arse. Could go either way though.

McCall with Lee Miller and Kerr assisting is warming to me.

Failing that Jim Duffy would be nice.

Hope the Board made their phone calls early.

Great news.

I would go for Robbie Neilson or David Hopkin.

Names like Presley, Mcyntre, McCall are average names

Wild card choices would be McCoist or Kenny Miller.

So, he's gone. What are we going to do now then?
Hopkins the obvious candidate, but can you stomach 'hoofball' for a winning team?
Relegation beckons, if they don't make the right choice.
No financial regulation, no corporate governance, no enlarged divisions, no summer football, no single ruling body, no new cash, no integrity. Behold the 'bright new dawn' for Scottish football,

What a mess he's left. Some of the players he's let go is criminal too i.e. grant, taiwo, hippo, Austin etc and signed sub standard replacements. Hope the new man can somehow get a tune out of the rubbish he's signed

Rule English based candidates like Hopkin, Coyle etc out as they walked away from more appealing jobs as they want back down South and we've been stung similarly with Holt before.

Put aside the animosity towards Hughes and his record stands out against any of the names we could get: Two promotions, cup finals, narrowly missed out on the top 6 and our only European adventure. Ever.

We also did play a decent style of football until his last season (although nothing as bad as we've endured recently and I'd rather watch pretty patterns than the hoof ball we've been subjected to latterly).

Rarely, if ever, has a manager brought in such a huge quantity of duds all in one go. usually we have had a reasonable mixture of decent/sh1t players. But the writing was on the wall at the end of last season in respect of which players were released and which were retained. Muirhead and Kidd, two players who were below average, maybe emergency squad members were kept. Not only that, but one was made captain! That suggest a total lack of ability to gauge the attributes needed for a player to be effective at this level. That he has brought in all this totally useless bunch from England/Wales shows an unerring ability to pick the wrong players and play them consistently out of position - McGhee a prime example. Not playing possibly our best full back except v Rangers kids smacks of stubbornness overriding common sense. I'm not surprised we have sacked him but there remains the problem of his legacy - a squad of absolute numpties. Lewis, Froxylias and Russell being the only three I would even consider keeping. The rest are worse than those they have replaced, lacking pretty much everything thats required of a player at this level. They all lack pace (Petravicious excepted), ball control, vision, teamwork, confidence and desire. Getting anything out of this pile of dross will take a minor miracle.

God help whoever comes in to take over this shower, as they will have their work cut out moulding anything resembling a team out of this pile of absolute dung.

Has been mentioned elsewhere but I think this will kick off recriminations at board level in the fullness of time.

Seem to remember during the closed season Hartley contradicting CEO Campbell about the size of the budget he had been given.

Are we about to see one or the other thrown under the bus to save face i.e. Hartley says fan expectation unrealistic based on club statement about imaginary cash he'd been given hence the sub-standard players he signed or Hartley carries the can for the whole debacle.

Its an utter mess. Hartley’s position was untenable, and from the optimism of the final few weeks of last season to the utter despair of this one, its a fall from grace of some magnitude.

What happened, Paul?

We need a replacement quick, but we musn’t panic.......catch 22.

In the ‘please to God no’ category are Duffy, Yogi, Pressley, McCoist, Rice, Latapy, Coyle, Miller, Miller/Kerr
‘Good, but slim chance’ options are Robbie Neilson, and David Hopkin
‘Best leave him where he is given his life is back on an even keel’.... Jobby McCall
‘Suggestion pinched from elsewhere’ Stewart Petrie (Montrose)

Which leaves Jim McIntyre...

I agree chances of getting them are slim but enquire anyway we shouldn’t limit it to a few candidates and get it wrong like Livingston done.

Hughes relegated Raith. I personally think he’s lost it as manager now he’s another Terry Butcher. Hughes did bring great success but I really don’t believe he could turn it around now.

If you ask me there’s a limit amount of managers to go for at the moment some of the options are already in work.

I’m actually gutted! I wanted him to face an angry fans forum or AGM. This seems the cowards way out!

Matters not a Jot, we are awful and have awful players. We are fucked!
I'm a bad man who doesn't waste time wondering what could've been when I am what could've been and what could not have been. I live on both sides of the fence. My grass is always green.
