Vs St Johnstone

Post by Olaf Thom » Tuesday 24th 2018f July 2018 05:40:23 PM

Urgh!

I think we’ll take a real tanking here, so I’m not going. I think and have actually bet them to win -1.5, might as well profit from what currently look like new poor signings and crap team. I’m not a big stakes gambler, so it’s just a fiver... happy to lose that for Falkirk win.

I think we’ll get beat would like to see us score a couple of goals and look a threat going forward.

1-0 doesn’t sound too bad, but St Johnstone didn’t get out of first gear.

Where are the goals going to come from? Strikers aren’t missing chances, we are creating hee haw!

Yet another Long hard season :bang:

Surely he must have a semblance of an idea of the team he intends to play against Inverness, if so he'll be playing it on Saturday against EF.

Up front, it's just quantity over quality. We've got Shepherd, O'Hara, Turner and Mackin on the books, combined you'd be hard-pressed to make a striker from that lot. Would have been better using their wages for one decent forward to partner Lewis and perhaps bringing in a loan player as back-up. Very little creativity in the midfield, hoped Sammut might provide that but he appears to be yet another sitter.

Watched on ftv, defence looked a bit more solid and there was certainly plenty of effort. However there was zero creativity, we resorted to playing hoof ball, needed someone in midfield to take control of the ball and play some passes, try and show a bit of composure as they tended to try and do a first time loop over the defence for Lewis to chase.

Still hoping it'll come together but the signs aren't great

Defence played well and the midfield were tidy enough

However we didn`t offer any threat up front, probably because we were playing 4,5,1

For me, it's about what happens in August, when the season starts. The League Cup has never been a great competition and continuous revamps aren't going to make it interesting any time soon.

Last season's experience being the prime example. Where everyones enthusiasm, evaporated 20 minutes into the season. When St Mirren equalised & the wheels fell off our bandwagon.
No financial regulation, no corporate governance, no enlarged divisions, no summer football, no single ruling body, no new cash, no integrity. Behold the 'bright new dawn' for Scottish football,
