According to the bookies we are 6th favourites to win the league this season.

.....and unfortunately, they rarely get it that wrong.
What were we last year?

Exactly.

After two seasons in 2nd place all the predictions I saw had us up there again.

I have Ross County as favourites, since you all asked. Although RC, ICT, Partick, DUFC, DAFC, ourselves, and possibly even Ayr and Morton or (less likely) QOS will be looking for top four places. It's going to be a brutal league, in terms of its cut-throat nature. 8 or 9 out of 10 with genuine chances of finishing top 4.

I see Darian McKinnon was moaning about the new English academy boys they've got coming up being too soft from the nicey nicey U23 stuff. Let's hope ours are not similarly inclined. I reckon Dallison and Lewis will put themselves about OK. Bit more worried about Sammut and TOE.

It's probably the toughest Championship for bookies to call in a very long time. Bookies won't have a scooby doo on half of the signings made - certainly not the ones we have made. To be honest, I suspect pundits will have a nightmare calling it this season too.

I still feel we'll finish in the top 4 comfortably enough and with games to spare. I think we could mount a title challenge but, being honest, I did expect more from the League Cup games. It's a joke of a competition but usually can act as a decent gauge.

ICT remain my favourites. They've been my favourites since Q4 of last season. Not expecting much from County, I think United are going to have a stinker. Can see Partick doing well and Dunfermline I'm a bit unsure of. Wasn't all that impressed with them last season to be honest - goes to show how important a decent run at crucial times can be.
If you're committed enough, you can make any story work. I once told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it.

Another one - Mark Russell

At least he knows the league, having played 3 years for Morton in it (5 in total).
Thoughts?

Absolutely disgraceful signing, we have 3 left sided defenders already and only 1 real right sided one.

What the hell is wrong with Robson, Brough and McGhee? If there was one position we had a enough off, its this one.
Might have to pay a development fee and then we only sign the guy for 6 months????? Lunacy!!!

I have serious concerns about Hartley, I don't think he has a clue.
I'm a bad man who doesn't waste time wondering what could've been when I am what could've been and what could not have been. I live on both sides of the fence. My grass is always green.

Assume this will facilitate McGhee moving to right-back. Hopefully it means we don't have to see Brough any time soon but Robson must be seriously out-of-the picture, hard to know why really, ok he regressed somewhat after a good start but if he wasn't rated why offer him a contract at all? The aversion to signing a proper right-back is just unfathomable. Liam Smith is looking for a club, he played regularly for the league champions in that position last season, surely he'd have been a more logical investment.

The squad is also pretty huge now, which contradicts what was said about Hartley wanting to work with a leaner squad. Quantity over quality seems to be the policy. Surely there are four or five we must be looking to ship out as soon as possible, again we are carrying a lot of guys picking up a wage for nothing in return, even some of the new signings like Turner who I struggle to see the point of.

Strange stuff indeed.

Can only assume that Robson or Brough must be leaving?

Harris, McKee and Sheppard all left out of the team picture so they surely must be on their way

Falkirk Herald pretty much confirms they're expected to leave by end of August.

Hartley looking for another 'attacker' as well. Can't help feeling he could sign another 16 and we'd still look clueless :!:
