MMMMMMMMM Dennon!

No financial regulation, no corporate governance, no enlarged divisions, no summer football, no single ruling body, no new cash, no integrity. Behold the 'bright new dawn' for Scottish football,

Not getting too excited from that showreel. The standard he’s playing at looks absolutely awful.

I'm not excited because of the video I'm just excited in general. First game we play will be very interesting with all these unknowns.

New signing also hinted that Jakubiak could be on his way back up. :)

Right then. We seem to have the blue steel signings well in hand. For the midfield, all we need now is a bit of the real steel.

This is getting seriously exciting. Til pre-season, I don’t give a toss about the potential limitations. Just got to revel in FFC finally attempting to break away from the Martin Ritchie “Ooooh, let’s be careful now, and let’s wait and see who’s available from East Fife or maybe Partick Thistle. Don’t want to cast the net too wide. Deary me, no.”

Picked up on that as well about Yak. Seemingly he’s keen to play up top together in combinations :) Would Welcome Yak back, bring back the Yak! A return of Andy Nelson would also be super duper. Hartley make it happen

Lewis, Jakubiak and Nelson with O'Hara as back up would be a decent enough pool of players for the forwards. Sibbald just playing off a front 2 with loads of pace is a good prospect as well.

This guy shows plenty of promise on the clips so hoping that translates into performances for us. I think I am probably alone in not wanting Nelson to return. If we were to have 5 strikers then fine but based on what I saw last season I don’t think Nelson is good enough to play up front in a title winning side. I may well be totally wrong as it’s about opinions and I wouldn’t have thought gavin Reilly after his spell at scumfermline would have been good enough either and neither would many on here I suspect.

I thought jak was our best forward last season and if he is to return then I would like to see the last striker berth taken by someone with a bit more experience to go with the 3 young guys. Not saying a veteran just someone that may offer a more consistent form.

totally agree with this. I like Nelson has a great attitude and would be happy to see him back as one if 4 or 5 strikers however he is a bit raw and not sure he's there yet as a starting striker who will get the 20 plus goals we might need to get out if this league

We’ve never really been a side with a particularly great history of forwards with big goals per season figures.
Way back, I remember Gerry McCoy being a bit of a phenomenon for us.....probably because we hadn’t had someone who scored most weeks for a few years.
Of course, Super Sam was transformed by Stainrod, and Duffy was decent. I guess our last real ridiculously good goal scorer was Stokes.
While Nelson didn’t set the heather on fire last season, for me, the guy did have something about him that said it could all come good, and maybe “potential” isn’t enough for the coming season.
Tbh, would happily settle for a team where the goals were spread evenly across a number of players.

Farid , Taylor and to a lesser extent Loy first time round all banged the goals in. In fact did we not have the leagues top scorer 3 years running in Mark Stewart, Farid and then Taylor?

Yes, you are probably right, but over a longer time span, we haven’t been renowned for single star goalscorers.
Fantastic if we have one (or even two) now. Having said that, by recent standards, 20 goals in a season isn’t exactly prolific, so quite possibly we’ve had our fair share of those.
I need to check Better Meddle for some accurate numbers for the likes of McCoy.

Update:

Lyle came out tops with 29, Farid had 28, and Mark Stewart way behind with a 17.

Stokes gave us 16 in 16 games. McCoy gave us 25 goals in 33 games. Darryl Duffy gave us very decent 27 in 44 games.

Yes Mark Stewart was way behind those 2 but he still might have been the leagues top scorer if I remember right

He was indeed.

That's what got him his big money move to Bradford *koff koff*

Fergie......special. I still have my “poster” of him. They were being handed out (I think with a newspaper) prior to his debut. Tbf, it’s like the Turin shroud now, and is falling to bits. Of course, he is resplendent in his Rangers kit.........some things never change.
I am sure Fergie managed a double hat trick against the Shire.....only problem was, three of them were disallowed. It remains the only time I evEr saw that happen. We won 1-6.

yes I remember the posters. Were in Evening Times or Evening Citizen. Some people in the ''choir'' area put them on home made boards and lifted them up when the players took the field. Great memories.
