Looked at a morecambe forum and only one reference to him and that was that he didn't get much of a chance.

I would much prefer taking a risk with big units from down south than sign the mediocre 1st division journeymen/Edinburgh reserves we have been signing over the last couple of seasons - with the likes of Baird, Kidd, Craigen, Watson, Smith and Harris we have know exactly the level of player we were getting - not good enough. Squad starting to take shape - just wish we didnt have so much dead wood hanging about.
Im constantly updating my hit parade of the 10 biggest w**ks on OneF.

Totally agree. While it means nothing once a ball is kicked, for now, it’s a refreshingly different approach for us to be taking.
Big units (or good small ‘uns) from England with something to prove or in need of a fresh start is infinitely preferable to “he might not be too bad because Hibs/Hearts have released him”.
If they are good, we can look forward to losing them, but such is life.
I wouldn’t mind this approach becoming something of a Falkirk signature.

This is fine but they need to sign a few big names with experience in Scottish I would go for Flood and Stokes.

Stokes equates to “good times” for most of us. We never had to deal with the daftness that ensued once he was earning enough to indulge his daft side. I will use the word “daft”, but I am sure others will know it to be a lot darker than that.

I am happy enough to give Hartley free rein for the coming season. Muirhead fills me with apprehension, and Kidd fills me with “meh”, but Hartley clearly sees a need they fulfill, so I will accept it. If he were by some weird twist of fate to find himself to be Stokes’ new manager, then so be it. I certainly wouldn’t object to a Stokes hat trick in amongst a six goal demolition of the Fifers.

If we had Stokes and Kenny Miller up front next season then I’d be pretty chuffed with that.

Rory Loy needs a drinking partner, so lets get Stokes.

“He was brilliant in 2008” is a bad recruitment model 99% of the time.

Yeh but the suggestion there would be that he’s done nothing since then. That’s not the case.

I’m actually not bothered either way on this one. He could definitely offer something but the guys also a perennial bawbag so could be a wee bit of a risk to overall squad harmony paying another guy loads of money who just wants to mess around.

no to stokes, he's got ability but he's a waster like loy, dont need another one.

Also a big fat no to big fat scobbie.

Looking back on these threads I can understand the excitement to signing a complete unknown but if Hartley signed these players then surely you look at their career history first and question whether they can cut it at our level. Get them in on trial to have a look first hand instead of basis your opinion on a 2 minute video clip of highlights at a crap standard?
