Dumbarton Away

Post by Duncan Freemason » Thursday 19th 2018f April 2018 07:38:45 PM

Thankfully, a completely meaningless fixture in terms of league status for next season.
Some minor bragging rights is all there is at stake.

For Us: A chance to notch up our first victory over our part time colleagues, and open the gap to 14 points (something that looked barely credible even three weeks ago). Potentially it could be 17 pts come Tuesday evening.
One thing for sure. If they do go down, Dumbarton can look back on their Championship record against Falkirk FC with a great deal of pride. That have been a thorn in our side so many times.

For Them: A chance to finish the season unbeaten by us. A chance to narrow the gap to a more credible 8 points.
On the other hand, they might choose to rest key players for the play offs, and Paul Hartley might continue making team selection just about impossible to second guess.

Pressure off, so I reckon a 0-2 is about due.

1:0 defeat which would absolutely typify this season.
I expect nothing more.
Here comes the doom.

Question is if he’ll bother to play Loy now we’re safe. If he can’t perform in a meaningless game to save his Falkirk career then he should be paid off in the summer. Would like to see the lad Dunne getting a game too, or did he get injured. Would be happy to see reserves getting a run out and players that Hartley sees as surplus, not being involved at all and shipped out in summer.
SAFE TERRACING FOR TFS EAST STAND.

Loy is just a fat waster. If hes got issues the club could just say that hes injured and we could accept that hes not fit enough to play for whatever reason.

Yesterday's result typifies the standards of 1F, three moans before kick off and after the "Bairns" knock in FIVE goals away at Dumbarton, which has been a bogey ground for Falkirk, NOTHING! The excuse will be that it is a meaningless fixture. None of you like taking to the keyboard after a win but there is no stopping you lot after a bad result!

I did wonder last night how long it would take for someone to whinge about the lack of posts.

Bravo arcticpuffin for exceeding expectations in such a fabulous way.

Wasn’t at the game yesterday but delighted to see the result and must say surprised at the margin of victory. Dumbarton fans suggesting they rested a few players ahead of the playoffs. Looking at the last 3 fixtures 9 points from the 2saints game and Dumbarton away looks to have been much more achieveable than we expected given both saints and sons have chucked it. If only we had still beeen in the playoff hunt.

Will be at the game next week and then sitting back to watch the mass migration begin

I watched it on ftv. First 20 minutes we were pretty good with jak scoring a cheeky backheel goal. We then let dumbarton into it and they scored via a taiwo error. 2nd half was all us and we scored some great goals. Sibbald was captain and was excellent off the front two, and the midfield of mckee, taiwo and kidd worked well. Overall a very positive performance and hopefully we can get a win in our final game.

I think the lack of replies is down to the apathy now shown but agree with the fact that had the score been the other way round I think keyboards would have been hot

£32, for an adult & teenager, in a dead rubber, really?
The result was a complete irrelevance.

Not sure I can join the "cup half full" brigade on this performance. After we scored, we were honking for most of the 1st half. Dumbarton should have been 3 up before half time if it wasn't for some good goalkeeping. Our midfield and defence were woeful. A better team would have crucified us.

2nd half was much better. Scoring a quick goal settled the nerves and got us back on track. After that it was all Falkirk.

The only mitigating factor was that the pitch was truly shocking with the ball bobbling all over the place..... but its the same pitch for both teams.

Clear out needed for next season !!!
Come the revolution......George will be first against the wall :D

Brian, you came perilously close to being someone moaning about the people moaning about people moaning.
Referring it to VAR showed that you were just onside, so your post is valid, and didn’t break the three moan law.

I'd just like to compliment Brian on a valued 14 year posting career on here.

But every time I see "Scrimgeour" mis-spelt I die a wee bitty. :(

I didnt see that result coming, which really sums up FFC this season.
Just like Hartleys team selection, you have no idea what you will get one week to the next.
The sooner next weeks game is over and we can enjoy a summer of signings, the better.
We NEED to get consistency in to that team. That will be a challenge in itself.
Great result against a team who normally turn us over.
Here comes the doom.

Wasn't there but result was good. However, it doesn't tell us much unless certain players did enough to keep themselves in a job. This Saturday will be a test as I think Jack Ross will be going all out to avoid a second defeat to us in less than a fortnight
