Rest of Season

Post by JaxinFalkirk » Monday 30th 2017f October 2017 09:16:21 PM

Would anyone share my view that best to write off this season & use the next 6 months to release those that are part of Houstie's legacy & start to blood youngsters to see if they like Dunne have what it takes to make the step up?

Clearly there are attendant risks such as exposure to relegation dogfight but personally I would prefer to get behind a manager who takes risks than one who is ultra conservative

Also this strategy would mean lower expectations fir rest of this season & give Hartley time to rebuild

Don’t often agree with you Jaxin but yes think you’re right on this although it’s important we create enough distance between the bottom of the league before we get too gung-ho.

We also need to get as far up the league as possible to recoup some of the 400k we've had added to our budget in prize money the last two seasons for finishing second. Every place below 2nd is a deficit in our budget for next season.

Interesting that it's a striker Hartley has opted to bring in. Austin, Loy, Miller, O'Hara, and Shepperd all failing to convince him it seems. At least it injects some intrigue into Saturdays proceedings as to who might make way :?:

If I remember right he played more wide midfield when he was at raith.

At least we now have a manager who is prepared to use the "emergency loan" system to try and change things.
Let's hear it for the lovely ladies.

Hopefully a replacement for the useless Craigen or equally useless Harris.
A.P.K.A. - alba bairn. I don't know why they "suspended" my previous account? Ask them.....

Stumbled across this in my news feed.

A concise summary of where the seasons gone wrong and why Hartley hasn’t (as yet) changed our fortunes.

I don’t recognise the author but they certainly have done their research and the article sums up what fans have been saying for a while.

With that insight and objectiveness I think it's fair to say that Olaf's real name is not Craig Fowler.

Exactly, there is nothing in that article that is any way revelatory to any fan who has been watching us for the past couple of seasons.

Beggars belief that supporters could see glaring flaws in terms of recruitment or squad balance yet so-called professionals with decades of experience in the game cannot.

Thats a really good, well balanced (unlike our squad) article.
Written fairly and without predjudice.
As others have said, how Houston and others could not recognise the massive inbalance in our squad is pretty much unforgiveable.
These "professionals" love to lord it over us fans as being "not in the know of the professional game", but what they seem to forget is that we have all watched the games for many, many years, some of us more than what Managers have been in the game, and although not professionally qualified to play or manage a club, we certainly know more about what it takes to win a game of football and how to set up a team with the personel at the club.
Its a shameful state of affairs we are currently in, and I reckon most of us know what is needed to rectify it - a massive clear out.
However, after Housty paying for Centre Halfs to come in, then getting paid off himself, then paying for Hartley to come in and the few signings he has already brought in, my question is WHERE WILL THE MONEY COME FROM?
Will we get money from our squad if they are put on the market at the Transfer Window? Possibly for a few of them. Will we get top dollar? No chance.
So Hartley is going to be left to try and work miracles and bring in favours from everywhere to increase the quality of this squad for the pennies he will surely get from the BoD (If anything). This is going to be a tough ask for him, and I think a measure of success this season will be just to keep us in the league, and offer us some sort of hope for next season, so will all be daft enough again to buy season tickets and attend games in the forlorn hope its "Our Time" next year.
Oh the joys.
Here comes the doom.

"Our Time". Probably the most ironic marketing campaign in the history of Falkirk FC.

I'd be very wary of blooding youngsters in a team that if completely bereft of confidence

Rest of the Season is a total right-off but where do we go from here?
