I'm happy. you never know how a managerial appointment will work out but you can understand why the board appointed him. hope he brings more attacking urgency to our style of play. good luck to him

Just a reminder of a summary of the Roles & Responsibilities and Success Criteria of the job as defined by the Falkirk FC Board of Directors.

A hands-on Head Coach, who is committed to building and maintaining a competitive and successful football team.
Achieved through
  • Winning, attack-minded, skilful and inspiring football

  • Generating value through recruitment, development and sale of players
Expectations are that Falkirk FC should progress from the Championship at the earliest opportunity and become a successful and sustainable Premiership footballl club. You will be able to match those ambitions and aspirations and more importantly deliver on them

Recruitment is key, all the coaches are taught the same tactics and training - so recruitment is where the difference is made.

We shall see but I think JR Hartley will be average at best.

And if he proves to be good will you get behind him and give him your full support?

Obviously deserves plenty of time to prove himself.

I see Brendan Rodgers invited him to Celtic training after he was sacked at Dundee. Maybe a decent loan signing or 2 from them in the future.

Largely feeling indifference on this one. Decent record but I loathe the guy. Lets see how it goes but unless he actually gets the monies that were twice promised to Houston and then withdrawn we won't be going anywhere under Hartley either.
If you're committed enough, you can make any story work. I once told a woman I was Kevin Costner, and it worked because I believed it.

Told you, like Alex Smith, he’s a nice guy. 😛

Have to say I'm delighted about this appointment. Would've been my first choice. Time will tell if he will be successful but for me, the board have got it spot on here.

Peter Houston was my first choice a few years ago and I’m glad Paul Hartley has joined as he was my first choice this time.

Shows ambition by the board a manager who has got promotion and top six finish.

Hopefully he gets funds in January.

If anything we can at least have bets on whether he’ll be clean shaven or bearded from week to week.

From hour to hour more like.

Quite remarkable follicular activity going on there.

Holt's Killie tattoo, Elvis shitty broon shoes, Lambies doos, Hartley's wirey beard. We sure pick them.

Hartley is our new boss. He is very dour and does not come over as media friendly that is a negative as you need to get the press and the media on your side. He will need to win the fans over as he was not a liked by the fans. Another one who will kiss the badge and hold up the scarf and will spout the usual jargon. He will need to be careful what he spouts.

Decent appointment on the face of it.

Lots of ambition talk as usual.

They need to turn that talking into action.

Hartley doesn't strike me as someone who will allow those above him to c**t him about.

His track record is good.

He’s good with the media and comes across quite well whenever I’ve seen him. Never heard anyone say anything bad against him. Houston on the other hand had a bit of a falling out with sections of the media whilst at United.

Here’s a wee bit of him doing a bit for Soccer AM.

Certainly looks like he puts the pressure on in training.
