Great news. One of the most pointless signings ever.

Thank Christ for that. A ludicrous signing and waste of 5 months wages.

Great! That'll free up some cash for another holding midfielder. :D

Best of luck to Rankin, wrong club, wrong time. Why Houston wasted his time and our money I'll never know.

This clears up room for another two goalkeepers at least!

Interesting how his departure is being spun:

... I understand his desire and need to play regular football, it is just unfortunate the way things have panned out that due to the competitive nature of our squad he was unable to get that here.

Houston still not admitting that he called this one wrong even though, by his own admission, the squad was under-performing:

If Hibs are top of the league and the best team I dont think we’re that far away. However when I look at it based on what our season has been like so far. We have been too inconsistent. We lost to Dumbarton – a game we should never have lost – ...

In fairness he probably would have been a good signing if we didn't already have Kerr, Sibbald and Taiwo, but we do so it was a stupid signing.

Also fair play to the guy for instigating the decision to leave rather than sitting around taking the clubs money for next to no return.

I'm not so sure of that. Kerr has been off the boil and yet he's still not made it into the side. The one game he did start recently was St Mirren and he was dire for the 45 mins he was on the park. One season too many for him in my opinion.

Good luck to him. A decent pro but the wrong player at ghee wrong time for us

Every one on here talking about the departures freeing up cash for a holding mid fielder. Would a holding midfielder get goals probably not. What wins games is goals this is in short supply at moment could it not be used to bring Loy back on loan and ohara is back as well this would make a better front 2 with miller as back up.

Not Rankin's fault. Houstie should never have signed him. He wasn't needed at the start of the season, he isn't needed now. Only one man to blame in all this.

Sharpen up mate, it's clearly a joke suggestion that we need another holding midfielder.

Totally stupid signing. Thankfully he has now gone. For a team heavy in "holding midfielders" and defenders we don't half ship some amount of goals. A whole shed load of players need moving on. I hear Watson is going too, and hopefully if true he should be followed by a heap of others. Muirhead, McCracken, Kidd, Craigen, Baird and McHugh can all go without causing us any pain. Time for a clear out and a couple of fresh faces brought in.

We are clearly not interested in going up this season so lets get some more of the kids in.
Finlayson at rb, Blues and Henderson in midfield, and once Austin is fit get him in too with Shep and O'Hara and give them all some experience. I doubt it will be any worse than we've seen at Dumbarton or against St Mirren, Dunfermline and Hibs.
A.P.K.A. - alba bairn. I don't know why they "suspended" my previous account? Ask them.....

If we play the youngsters now, it would be very unlikely we would make the play offs, and that will be the brief for this season (minimum), so that won't happen. It's too much of a risk financially to not make the play offs. If we don't make it with the experienced team, we'll Housty loses his job without doubt.
If we can safely secure 3rd or 4th before the play offs, we'll that would be the time to blood them in.
A lot of folk have pipe dreams about what the "think" we should do, but don't realise how heavily burdened Falkirk are financially to ensure play offs are achieved as well as a decent cup run, just to keep the club on an even keel. The club can't take risks at this time. Frustrating but that's the cold hard facts.

Ps: I don't agree with getting rid of McHugh. He is a goal poacher as last year proved. He does not get the run of games required to give him a level of consistency. I like him personally. He's good in the sir, decent skill level, got some pace and has aggression.
Here comes the doom.
