Terrible news, if true then hopefully it will help highlight the pressures and disappointments that professional football bring and allow any other player that is feeling down to seek help.

I'm afraid clinical depression goes way, way beyond "feeling down" and your professional and personal life can be in good shape when this illness strikes you down.
Stress and anxiety can be a major factor in the onset of depression but by no means always and I would caution anyone from trying to rationalize the actions of someone suffering from this hellish illness.

I don't think anyone will rationalise it because to most people it's irrational. Very few will be able to understand why anyone would want to take their own life.

What I'm saying is that it shouldn't have to reach that stage before anyone seeks help and the more open and accepting we are off depression will hopefully prevent people from getting to the point where they want to end their life.

In my own case I was in my late 40s when I had the "breakdown", for want of a better expression, but I now suspect that I had been struggling with this to a varying degree since my early 20s.
It was staggering to find out just how prevalent depression is, particularly among men, and how inadequate the support infrastructure is.
Recognising that you have a problem is key to dealing with depression / anxiety / stress but you may not realise how serious your situation is until the crisis point is upon you and others around you may have been oblivious to your condition.
My Doctor was and remains a great source of help and my family have been wonderful but younger men may not have this support network to help them recognise and cope with what is happening to them and the "one of the lads" culture that we embrace in our 20s makes the problem all the harder to deal with.
I would urge anyone who finds themselves struggling with the black thoughts or periods of anxiety to go and chat to your Doctor, they will take you seriously and it could be the most important 15 minutes of your life.

Good post Bernard.

Hopefully Chris's family are getting the support they need right now, can't imagine how it must be to be in their shoes.

Have Swansea actually lost anytime Kingsley has started? I know they've won 3 matches he's played including against Arsenal and last weeks. He's looked impressive every time too

Great for Kingsley, always showed promise with us. I'd be interested to know what add-ons were on his contract, money for appearances reached?

Lyle Taylor just put Wimbledon 3-2 up, in ET, in their playoff v Accrington.
Though going by his hairdo, you'd think he was playing for Barnet!

Lyle Taylor looks to have win the Fourth division play off in England. Had the chance we to sink it, when 1 on 1 with the keeper & tamely shot straight at the keeper. Now where have I heard that before.
