Inverurie, Peterhead

Post by welshbairn » Friday 17th 2011f June 2011 03:46:49 PM

There are rooms going for £15 at the Aberdeen Airport Travelodge, about 10 miles from the Inverurie ground, and roughly on route to Peterhead. Looks like there's a bar and Indian restaurant nearby...
And there's a campsite by the beach in Peterhead for around £9 a pitch..

Won't the players & officials be staying there?
No financial regulation, no corporate governance, no enlarged divisions, no summer football, no single ruling body, no new cash, no integrity. Behold the 'bright new dawn' for Scottish football,

The word "beach" suggests lots of sand. IIRC, the foreshore in Peterhead is covered in black rocks.

The site is a fair hike from the town centre with no pubs nearby. It's quite scenic though, as it looks right onto the harbour. This was taken from there looking out over my tent during our last visit to the Blue Toon. A few hours later Falkirk rattled in six goals. :falkirk:

The one I booked is the Dyce one, for £15. On google maps there's a Zara bar and Indian restaurant next door, have you heard of it? If not, is there a pub within walking distance, or is Jimmy Chung's all there is apart from the airport? Is it the kind of place where you can have a couple of pints while you wait for a takeaway, or is it a strictly sit down restaurant? I must have answers!

It doesn't look that far a trek from the map: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?t=k&ie=UT ... 77162&z=14 , about a mile from the ground or town centre? Probably feels a lot longer when you're pished.. As I understand it, the campsite is in the bottom lefthand corner of the bay, and you can see the ground top centre..

If you look at the satelite image, you'll see that the Travelodge is situated next to an industrial estate.
Never been down that road so couldn't comment on Pub/Indian,sorry.Think that there is a big Asda(seen it from the chopper) further down.
The big U shaped building next to the round-a-bout is the Marriot Hotel, who have a resturaunt etc... and there are a few pubs dotted along the A947, but a wee walk between each one(not one for the usual ABZ weather).

Cheers for that, looks like whisky and the porn channel then...

p.s. It looks like there is a Indian/bar next door, but if there's any Subaru Imprezas parked outside, I'm off to Jimmy Chung.

Peterhead could only beat Inverurie 1-0 tonight, so Friday's game could a reasonable test hopefully..

Is that a Nissan Micra?

Must admit that I'd wouldn't fancy driving up from Wales in one of those.

In my experience they don't go faster than 25mph, particularly if there's a woman or an OAP at the wheel. I hate slow drivers in front of me and Micras are amongst the worst on the road for that.

Thanks for the tip re Travelodge. Got booked into the place near Aberdeen Airport which cost only £19.50. A good deal, particularly as the adjacent carvery sold a decent breakfast for under a fiver.

Worse than that, it's an automatic, and can't go up hills. Borrowed it in Inverness from my Dad, and stuck to the coast road, so just about made it. He's in his 90's and my Mum's trying to keep him and the good folk of Inverness alive a bit longer by restricting him to a dodgem car. :)
