Northwich Victoria and Oldham

For anyone thinking of going by public transport..
Cheapest way is is probably Megabus from Edinburgh or Glasgow to either Chester or Manchester.
Then train from either Chester or Manchester to Lostock Gralam. Short walk north up Station Road to big junction.
Turn left on Manchester Road.
You'll see a pub called the Slow an Easy. Possible place to stay, doubles/twins £50, singles £38. tel. 01606 42148. Usually bands on. Nothing else in village though, Northwich not much better. Think I would find somewhere in Manc or Chester.
Carry on the right side of Manchester Road until you get to canal bridge. Turn right up tow path, ten minute stroll until first bridge. You'll see the stadium on your right.

P.s. If you're driving, you could do worse than staying in Middlewich, a few miles down the road. Loads of good pubs, some by the canal. Narrowboat pub has twins/doubles at £45. tel. 01606 738087

Our old mate, Trainbairn, was good at organising cheap rail fares for pre-season fixtures down south a couple of years back
Think he worked for Virgin

It's cheapest if you book in advance on the internet. Not sure if you can pay on the bus. You don't need a ticket, just the reference number you get when you book.
