Right Back

Post by lewfal » Thursday 30th 2015f July 2015 04:39:51 PM

Houston has spoken about how he's looking for a right back. Anyone got any suggestions as to who we could realistically go for?

One player who I thought played well against us a lot was Dean Brett of Cowdenbeath. He's only 22 and can hit a quality free kick (better than Chris Mitchell). I know it's not the most exciting of thoughts, however you see Aberdeen and Dundee Utd raid lower league teams on a regular basis, so why don't we take a leaf out of their book.

I'd rather sign him than a Keith Watson anyway

IMO Rowan should never have been released.

Do we really need another defender?

we definitely need a right back. Muirhead is wasted there and Duffie's not got it

Cant see us bringing in a rb now Watson has signed, Muirhead will prob just continue there. Its a keeper and a striker Houston is after. Once they are brought in i think thats us done even if we prob still are short of one or two players ideally.

I tend to agree that Duffie has not progressed, defensively he’s slack and doesn’t offer enough going forward to compensate for that, so if the plan is to ship him out then yes we need a new RB, but if we bring one in and retain Duffie then for me that is just wasting a wage which could be better used elsewhere.

I think Brett is probably the right category of player we should be looking at given he is 22 and has plenty of time to develop his game.

I see that Stokes has been told to find another club would anybody take him back (even though it's very unlikely to happen).

I also think we need to wait and see if any the other rumours materialise (Sibbs, Vaulks to...) although there isn't much Houston can do if they are sold at the last minute like McGrandles last year.

I do agree with this, but also think its deffo time for Duffie to seek a new challenge

Houston must be keeping Bowman then as he has said he could benefit from going out on loan for six months, hence he was after a another keeper. I do agree we could probably do with a natural rb rather than someone like Muirhead who is just stuck out there cos we have nobody else. Bit perplexing as to why we signed Watson, seems we have loads of central defenders and no cover at rb. At least Liam Dick can play lb as cover for Leahy.

We need loads of defenders cos we play not to get beat.

Only need forwards if you actually try to win games

Just when we think Muirhead should be played at centreback, he scores a worldy against the Shire in the top left corner! If he and Duffie are injured I can see Vaulks being put there as he's played there before.
