Lee Miller

Post by Brian Bairn » Friday 17th 2015f July 2015 12:41:33 PM

Worth a punt as player coach similar to the coaching role Stevie Crawford had. His experience would be great for young strikers. This is the area we are not producing homegrown talent recently. Thoughts?

Do you know something?
Funnily enough, I mentioned it elsewhere, but he was at the game on Tuesday with 2 kids.
Strange you should bring up his name?

Saw on p&b that he was supposedly interested in a coaching role and think it would be not a bad move

Injury prone and past it. Surely we can uncover someone far better to replace Loy than him. Reeks of desperation if true.

More the coaching of youth than the main threat up front I was thinking

Not sure about his injury record but i certainly don't think he's past it and reckon he'd be a solid signing at this level. He fits the bill as far as I'm concerned, a target man which we've lacked, experienced and a Falkirk supporter too. I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him

How do people assess players' ability as amazed at how individuals are just being written off

For me Lee is exactly the type if striker from which the likes of Baird or McHugh or even both could play off

Whilst I respect this is a forum for us to express individual opinions I do think some border on vitriol & ignorance

We're f**ked. Can you believe since the cup final we've come up with TWO attacking options, one of which we've signed. Fair enough, as a trialist, he probably earned the deal. The question I'd ask is why were all the eggs put in this ridiculously small basket? I think the so-called transfer activity since June is a disgrace. "Ah, we might have somebody else, kinda".... For a professional organisation this is f****** disgraceful. Burchill has signed an array of talent - ok, some of which might be pish - but he is trying while we are utterly devoid of vision.

Appreciate that some have gone overboard on Miller - but I think a lot of people are basing opinion on his last year - an injury hit disaster at Kilmarnock - 1 goal in 22 games and pretty much hated by all Killie fans. That's enough for me to suggest he is not the answer. We dont need a injury blighted guy in his 30s. Must admit I'm underwhelmed by McHugh but at least he is 23 and has time on his side.
Im constantly updating my hit parade of the 10 biggest w**ks on OneF.

It might be an idea to bring in a striker to coach the kids who actually scored a bucketful of goals? Miller certainly hasn't through his career. At least Stevie Crawford had that on his CV.
Although I don't particularly like him, bringing in someone like John Robertson would be an idea. A link with Houston through Hearts. No idea what he is doing these days other than open all mikes?

He was actually doing some striker coaching with Hearts, although I can't remember if that was just under Gary Locke; it probably was.

Also agree with this. An older head up front can help with Baird (fair enough he's 29) & McHugh.

Houston has said we will not be signing lee,

apparently we have better options.

Would have taken him back definitely

Just been to see about 60mins of the Dev game v Hibs.
Excellent game
3-2 Hibs when I left .
Superb headed goal from Miller from T Grant corner. Real classic!!
Whether he's a possibility is problematic. Looked lean and fit but didn't do much chasing and harrying. His touch and flick-ons were very good and didn't waste much that came to him.
Overall I liked Shepherd, Blair, Cooper and Johnson.
Finlayson, Blues and Gallacher looked great defensive prospects but their errors through inexperience cost us the goals.
Good 60minutes entertainment!!

Should have signed Miller a couple of weeks ago when he was offered to us on a plate. What a climb down from Houstie after dismissing the lad. Well done Lee Miller. Head down, work hard and you will be signed - despite Houstie's failings.
