Re: Patrick Brough

Totally agree. While it means nothing once a ball is kicked, for now, it’s a refreshingly different approach for us to be taking. Big units (or good small ‘uns) from England with something to prove or in need of a fresh start is infinitely preferable to “he might not be too bad because Hibs/Hearts h...

Re: The clear-out

I am biased(in that years back, I understood their business practices very well). Firstly, they have a convicted sex offender, a convicted thug and a convicted drug dealer all involved. Couple of them are very decent players that most other clubs wouldn’t touch, but Livingston have never been shy to...

Re: Tom Dallison

That won’t change any time soon. The printed media is still reeling from crumbling circulation numbers, and throw what little journalism remains in a never ending recycling of anything Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs, and Aberdeen, and the likes of BBC Scotland are stripping back their online coverage...

Re: The clear-out

Must admit to not giving a thought to a reserve team.PH talking about a stripped back squad of 20 players doesn’t even cover the basics of two starting elevens, so I guess he must be looking at the first team bench guys also being a key part of the reserve team and the others being younger players. ...

Re: The clear-out

Don’t deny his passion. Previously, he was comically bad when played as a full back, and just seemed to revert to ropey as a centre back. I remember Kevin Christie being utterly awful, and then Den Biemen arrived, and hey presto, Christie was excellent when Stik took him by the scruff of the neck, a...

Re: The clear-out

Well, the P&B crowd have got a happy frenzy going because Muirhead is staying. I reckon he will cause us more damage than just about any opposition player next season. With him in there, no chance whatsoever of central defence being solid. Only concern I have is that it looks like there’s going to s...

Re: Tom Dallison

Well all we can get excited by so far is what we see, and I see a proper big unit with a bit of Olivier Giroud about him, and that will do for now. As mentioned above, at least it isn’t the same old same old who has played for Partick or Hamilton or Ross County, but was either not good enough or too...

Re: The clear-out

Thing is, managers tend to be judged on their last season. It takes a long time to build a body of work that becomes the basis of how a manager is judged. Allardyce, Pulis and Redknapp would be three who became “The Rescuers” managers. Fair or not, they all got reps as fabulous shorter term fixers, ...

Re: The clear-out

This all feels a bit like the footballing equivalent of the French Revolution, and the crowd are getting restless waiting on the next player being brought out for their turn on the contractual guillotine. Time to get the knitting out. Am going to try to keep the heid, and trust Hartley to get this r...

Re: The clear-out

I know I keep saying it, but next season we really need to set down a marker of winning the first game of the season for the first time in over a decade.

Re: The clear-out

You might be right, you might be wrong. Definitely very few will be happy if that current list is intended to be a “clear out”.
The thought of what remains being the core of a Championship winning team is totally laughable. Here’s hoping PH thinks that idea is laughable too.

Re: The clear-out

It's a start and perhaps contractually, the club are avoiding mention those who have a contract but who are no part of Hartley's plans. Early days, and not for one minute do I think PH is finished with the "get rid" list. The last thing we need is public announcements saying certain under contract p...

Re: The clear-out

No way will Hartley be able to make every supporter happy. Some would be happy for Kidd to stay, others want him gone. I see Muirhead as a key component of our awful season, others see his captaincy and penalty taking as key component of us doing better and surviving in the league. About the only pl...

Re: Club Statement

I think the “Club Statement” will be judged very soon. I don’t think a big percentage of the support are in the mood to await mid to long term developments. The other thread entitled The Clear Out will be judge and jury on whether or not the Club Statement has real intent or just more waffle. Rightl...

Re: falkirk v st mirren 28th April 2018

Just about impossible to predict what will happen here. St Mirren might field a full strength line up seeking to end on a high, and say farewell to Morgan, or equally, their manager might give their kids a run out. It’s hard to imagine that Hartley will use this game to make a decision on anyone’s f...

Brian, you came perilously close to being someone moaning about the people moaning about people moaning.
Referring it to VAR showed that you were just onside, so your post is valid, and didn’t break the three moan law.

Dumbarton Away

Thankfully, a completely meaningless fixture in terms of league status for next season. Some minor bragging rights is all there is at stake. For Us: A chance to notch up our first victory over our part time colleagues, and open the gap to 14 points (something that looked barely credible even three w...

Re: Club Statement

Agree Dixie. We need to get that revitalised. Did anyone notice that the statement seems to have Hartley much more at the heart of things than we would normally see from a BoD type statement? It reads as if he is in there with the Board, and a crucial (and equal) part of the decision making processe...
