You'd think it would make sense to do it within the timeframe of the season rather than calendar year given the 31/12/18 - 1/1/19 scenario.
That's far too sensible an idea.

Re: Sibbald signs for Ferranti thistle

I cant understand why the club didnt just tell his agent we were invoking the option and that was that. There shouldnt have been any need for negotiations as that was done last summer when he signed the contract with the option. We really should`ve held all the aces here and yet we`ve still managed...

Re: 18/19 Predictions and Premonitions

I just cant see where all this blind optimism is coming from and will wait and see what our squad looks like in July.

To predict we will go from 3rd bottom to league winners is a huge leap of faith.

Livingston deserve to be promoted after beating Partick Thistle home and away.

Great team spirit and work ethic.

What is the story with Sibbald ?

I thought we had an option in his contract to retain him for another year.

Re: The clear-out

We're going to have to have players to play in the reserves that can cover a number of positions. Better having the likes of Kidd and O'Hara on cheap wages than wasting cash on wages and signing on fees to bring in others to do the same job. Begs the question, why do we need a reserve team. I thoug...

I know I keep saying it, but next season we really need to set down a marker of winning the first game of the season for the first time in over a decade.
It doesn't help when all your opening fixtures are away from home because there is a pop concert at your stadium. :flame:

The headline should read "Our Season in Tatters".

After all the promises of "Our Time", lets hope finishing 3rd bottom has been a wake up call for everyone at the club.

According to the Falkirk Herald, Paul Hartley has dismissed talk of having "the largest ever playing budget " next season.

He says his playing budget will be "about the same as what it was last season".

The league table does not lie.

We are third bottom in the league and the worst full time team in the league.

Re: Inverness away

Yes any increase could be fully or partially negated by players under contract however I would be calling for his head if we didn’t at least go close to winning the league if this was not the case. Given the circumstances I would still fully expect 4th place at worst no excuses. He needs to deliver...

Re: revised season expectations ??

In a season which started with such high expectations (Our Time), I will be happy if we finish in 8th position.

We can then clear the decks and forget about a season which has been the worst since the Totten "relegation" season.

Am I missing something here where has the 40 players come from?

On the website I can see 27 players 14 of them I think are in the development squad I think. Do they count in the 40?
Don`t rely on the web site for anything. It is well out of date.

I hate it when we play a team on the last day of the season and they are celebrating winning the league.

Remember Partick Thistle at the Falkirk Stadium a few years back or even worse, away to Dunfermline. :flame:

Muirhead is a loose cannon and should have been sent off before he got in the way of Sibbald`s shot and deflected it into the net.

He gave away the second goal by failing to cut out a cross and then proceeded to score an own goal.

Captain Calamity indeed.

We should forget all about Development Squads and Reserve Teams next season.

Lets focus on getting back to the Premier League with a first team squad of 18 quality players and maybe 3/4 promising youngsters.

Re: No more academy?

It's probably been posted but I like the article below about us closing the academy. There will be a lot of hidden costs running an academy that we don't know about. If we pick up some gems released by other academies to play in the first team like Robson then we will be stronger on the park for it...

According to the Daily Express, Ian McCall is interested in signing Mark Kerr.

Ayr United is about his level and would be a good move for him.

Don't have any issue with this. What would you expect to happen, the kids to give up football?
No, but I would expect the club to be paid compensation for their best players.

This can be up to £15k per player if they go to a top SPL club.
