Re: Away to Brechin

Oh well, I stirred a wee hornets nest by describing us as a bombscare of a team, and to be fair, that wasn’t right. The bombscare element remains where it has been for the entire season, and that’s at the heart of our defence which gives away chances regardless of the opposition. We had easily the l...

Re: Fan Ownership

Or even better, amassing the sum required to buy out Anne Budge (as she always said she would give them the club back for the price she paid), and then have Budge tell them it would be best to give her their £3.5 million and she would invest it into their new stand.......which she did. Only problem ...

Re: Dev squad v Ross Co

Well I think that’s pretty much the direction we are headed. There is still some potential for money to be made from other (bigger) club’s rejects. The guy Morgan at St Mirren is this season’s perfect example I guess, but as there is no definitive formula as to how you make it work in your favour, i...

Re: revised season expectations ??

Having a scan over our remaining fixtures, I reckon we will end the season in the 43 to 46 points band. There’s fixtures against St Mirren that I have written off completely, but there’s a game against the Fifers that I actually think we will win. Franchise F.C. will probably do us again this season...

Away to Brechin

Our latest banana skin in a season awash with the damned things. We narrowly avoided screwing up on our last visit to Le Hedge Grande, and we might just about represent their second last realistic chance of winning a game this season. We’ve gotten ourselves a wee bit of momentum, but the “winning tw...

Re: revised season expectations ??

Yeah, expect to be comprehensively beaten all over the park with the exception of up front where we might be able to grab a goal or two, but feeling that even if we scored a couple of goals, we’ll concede more than that. I would class the current Sevco as an aggressive and physical side that can rus...

Re: revised season expectations ??

It’s interesting. Despite being little more than Championship bridesmaids (or more often) also rans for the best part of a decade, this is the first time where I have felt it near enough pointless looking for any possibility whereby we can get through this game with either a win or even forcing a re...

Re: revised season expectations ??

Personally, got to accept 8th (provided its half a dozen points clear of 9th). 7th would be an unexpected bonus, and 6th would point to Hartley exceeding expectations by a country mile.

Re: Cove v Falkirk

Olaf is correct. We simply are not a Championship team “on the up” capable of delivering a Cup shock. All the evidence points to us being comfortably beaten by everyone except Morton (assuming Ayr go out today). Much better to get an OF side away and be done with it. We rode our luck at the franchis...

Re: Cove v Falkirk

Important we got the win but a little embarrassing to be the poorer side for long spells. Getting more and more concerned that Hartley might be a direct back to front long ball merchant. Certainly he is tolerating it for now but worried this might be his style which if it’s the case will soon reduc...

Re: Cove v Falkirk

Yes, we were indeed lucky to be level at half time, but having said that, Cove had thrown everything they had at us, and probably gambled on being ahead at half time then somehow hoping to hold out in the second half. Our early goal kind of scuppered that plan, but they were pretty relentless in doi...

Re: Cove v Falkirk

Perhaps it has been overtaken, but are we not co-holders of the Guinness World Record for the most postponed Cup tie of all time? Sometime in the late 70s I think.

Re: revised season expectations ??

There’s precious little for us to be scared of from this point onwards. We know the back four will make one or two calamitous blunders in every single game, but it’s down to the opposition to exploit it......some will, some won’t. Brechin’s goal showed us that some players are capable of ridiculous ...

Re: revised season expectations ??

Agreed. If we can pick up 6 points from the Brechin and Dumbarton games (a big “if”), then we just might see a wee bit of a transformation in performances. If the pressure of a bottom two finish evaporates, I reckon a lot of stress amongst the players will vanish too, and if nothing else, we might j...

Re: v Brechin Tuesday night

Pretty turgid stuff yet again. I guess we got the win, and at the turn of the year, even that would have been doubtful. Absolutely no doubt that Hartley is going to have to take a wrecking ball to this squad in the summer. There’s probably three or four that are worthy of building a new team around....

Re: v Brechin Tuesday night

Confidence is such a fragile beastie, and that will be ours shot to pieces again (team and supporters). We’ve been in this league for the best part of a decade, and still haven’t ever looked like topping it. A couple of “nearly” years, but other than that, just muddling along. So, Brechin it is. I g...

Re: Falkirk v Livi - League Duty

Jesus Aitch Christ, we all knew what today’s opponents are all about. Have a scrap, get possession, play for touch. So what did Hartley do? He played 100% right into their hands. We abandoned football, and tried to compete with them on kick and rush terms, and we got exactly what we deserved. Clear...
