Re: Falkirk vs Airdire

Agree wrt Dallison. He looks to be the real diamond so far. Glaringly obvious that we need more up front, or we might end up with a hell of a lot of nil-nil draws. Defence looks to be light years ahead of last season. Froxy definitely our Sibbs replacement, and the one we will be looking to for to c...

Re: We really are a bunch of moaning gits.

Wrt Muirhead, I am as big a critic as any. I can’t be bothered with the Captain Courageous stuff after a decent recovery tackle when he just screwed up 10 seconds before. In my opinion, he isn’t dependable or capable enough as a defender. I am sure he is about as good a penalty taker as there is, an...

Re: We really are a bunch of moaning gits.

I must admit to having a laugh because someone said that because they hadn’t heard of these players (and therefore had zero knowledge of either their ability, or the level they had been performing at), then they must by definition be as bad or worse than what had gone before. It reminded me of the o...

Re: Signings on the way

Every group of supporters is happy to up the negatives on many ex players....us included. There will be more than a little truth to it tbh, but we have a manager who backs himself to be the guy to get the best from them. That’s what he did with Longridge last season, and it didn’t work out, so the l...

Farewell Rory and Cameron

Farewell Rory. I remember your debut (I think) at Forfar. Nice drag back and goal. Also a peach of a Will Vaulks OG that day. Despite a tortuous second spell, I wish him well for whatever the future holds. CB expected to become part of Martindale’s shambles up in the Edinburgh dormitory town. Great ...

Re: 18/19 Predictions and Premonitions

Yep, it’s going to be a significant chunk. If his wage is £50k, the best we could hope for is something akin to Raith picking up half of it (and probably making him their highest paid player). The upside is a coaching role fulfilled in Kirkcaldy without further expense.

Re: 18/19 Predictions and Premonitions

If it happens, I would absolutely wish Loy the very best. Clearly something in his life went very pear shaped last season, and not for a minute do I think he got up one morning and decided not to give a toss. He has had issues, no doubt, but maybe he can find a path back, and if that’s as a player c...

Re: Scott Harrison

Happy enough. Reckon Hartley wanted to address the soft as hell defensive frailties of last season. The guy still had a year of his contract remaining at ‘Pool, and like supporters of any club, he’s being given pelters for jumping ship. Might be justified, and it might not be. You could claim the sa...

Re: 18/19 Predictions and Premonitions

The only downside so far is it’s the (potentially) better guys who have gone first, but should we get rid of the rest (no easy task), and those coming in buy into Hartley’s organisation and work ethic, there is no way we are going to go anywhere near last season’s levels of awfulness...even if the n...

My mate and his boys agree too. They thought he was just fine at Killie. Not top drawer, but as they said, “neither is McDonald”. They reckon he will do a good job for us.

Re: Signings on the way

The biggest lesson from last season came from David Hopkin. He showed that attitude and the ethic of teamwork was (at our level) as important or maybe even more important than individual talent. There is no way that the Livingston team he put together over a couple of seasons was awash with the most...

Leo Fasan

I know absolutely nothing about how good a keeper he is.
Anyone out there with a bit of knowledge on the lad?

Another unknown for me, and that’s perfectly fine!

Re: Tom Taiwo

Total professional. While he could never cover for the mess going on all around him, TT was the one guy you could bank on never to walk onto the pitch with a “I can’t be arsed” attitude even when there were days when he must have felt that he couldn’t be arsed. While never close to the skill levels ...

Re: Sibbald signs for Ferranti thistle

We all wanted Sibbs to push on, and be the player we all thought he could be. I remember his debut against Leeds, and he looked like a sensation in the making. Sadly, it didn’t happen, and while the guy could give us the (very) occasional glimpses of brilliance, it was never enough to outweigh the s...

Re: 18/19 Predictions and Premonitions

No logic or even faith behind me selecting “Us” to win the league. It’s just the outcome I want, that’s all. DUFC just might be turning into the Leeds United of the Scottish Championship.....here’s hoping. If two of Us, DUFC and the Fifers get out of this league, and say a Livingston and Hamilton ca...

Re: Play offs today

Wonder if it’s the same council leader who was in their pocket a few years back? Would imagine he is nicely pensioned off by now. Curious that they are spending on a facility of which they own not a single brick. They came into existence in 1995, and have had a £12 million write off and a £2.5 milli...

18/19 Predictions and Premonitions

So. There’s us, and nine sad outfits vying for the land of milk and honey next season. No Livingston, so probably no outright corruption in the Championship, but I would guess DUFC are desperate enough to get into a proper financial mess trying to do anything anyhow to get out of the Championship. T...

Pablo Robertson is now 102 years old.
Paul Hutton has probably changed his name (again).
I had the fax/email from Man Utd regarding the BtB visit to meet with Alex Ferguson at Carrington. Up the loft somewhere I think.

Nor me. My abiding memory of Marino was him lying in a spasm on the turf at Cappielow. Never felt as uneasy about an injured player as I did that day. Truly horrible thing to see.

Re: MMMMMMMMM Dennon!

Fergie......special. I still have my “poster” of him. They were being handed out (I think with a newspaper) prior to his debut. Tbf, it’s like the Turin shroud now, and is falling to bits. Of course, he is resplendent in his Rangers kit.........some things never change. I am sure Fergie managed a do...
